Self fixing preamp
« on: 10 Dec 2004, 11:50 pm »
Hi Guys:
When I woke up this morning and got my old body straightend up I turned on the audio system. Amps and FM tuner came on but my CJ PF-R preamp had a problem. I adjusted the volume (As I always do) but the control knob kept on going back to zero by itself. Oh my God!! What now. So what I finally did was to turn off the power to the preamp and let it start from scratch. This thing has a self diagnosis in it. Lo and behold after the self diagnosis it's back to normal. Whew!! Sure am glad about that!

                           Cheers

That's pretty fascinating! Never heard of it before. Is that feature mentioned in the owner's manual? I've heard of some of the great old Volvo 240 cars that could seem to repair themselves from minor maladies, but never about electronics. I hope the fix lasts!

Music Maven:
Yes the owners manual covers this subject. When the preamp loses power it automaticaly does a diagnostics check on itself when power is restored.
Good old Conrad Johnson! Pretty hard to beat their products.
