Last summer I built a small desktop using 2.5" drivers in a CBT array. My prior experiences with full-range drivers were not very positive, especially one driver from Japan that I evaluated for a customer. That particular unit had a small cult following and was expensive but the performance was awful. The 2.5" drivers were very good but limited in bass extension.
The larger full-range drivers are compromised and have tradeoffs that to me are not acceptable. Here's a new concentric design that performs far better and is a great alternative. Much wider bandwidth and dispersion as well as smoother tonality. Concentrica
