Could not resist the $50 sale for Monoprice 15 watt tube hybrid integrated with bluetooth.  I gave away my Ultimate Ears Boom bluetooth speakers and had Infinity RS3 speakers laying about doing nothing, so what the heck.  This setup is not going to win any audiophile show prizes but definitely cheap and cheerful

I wonder if the transformer cover covers the actual transformer 

These are usually cheap mosfet amplifiers with tubes glowing for effect only.
