I just saw an add for this product at Good Guys.  I have lately been interested in both digital amps and single driver speakers, and this product has both in one nice looking package.  The speaker cone is made of wood, which JVC claims makes for better music dispersion.  I will have to see if I can find one to listen to.

I once read a review I believe by 'The Star' which is based in Singapore. I recall they really liked the Little Wonder. I would imagine it sounds great. JVC and single driver paper speakers. Hmmmm.

They're not paper cones...They're WOOD cones.  Solid wood.  They did some sake treatment to it and apparently it worked out.

I've listened to it.  Sounds ok and looks fantastic.  Very nice for an executive office.  The speakers are VERY deep, like 9"?  Using the EQ to tame the treble was very desirable but then again I was listening in a huge warehouse sized room near no walls but the ground.

I am with ooheadsoo on this one - I heard it locally and think it looks REALLY cool, but the sound in the store was just OK.

Seems to me like they could have made it nicer had it been a 2-way.  Get a nice silk dome tweeter up top.  Just use some simple 1st order xovers, and make sure to tilt the baffle for time alignment.  Seems like this woulde have worked out well.

You don't like full range speakers, eh? :)  It's just a design choice.  There are plenty of highs, imo fwiw.  It doesn't sound bad.  It's unique and does what it's supposed to do pretty well.

I have had very positive experiences with speakers with single small full range drivers, e.g. nOrh 4.0 drug and RAD Micro.  Put them near a wall and they sound surprisingly full and play plenty loud!  This JVC would go great in my bedroom -- small, looks good, should sound pretty good.  If the speakers aren't great I could also use my RAD Micros, which are pretty small too, and have a nice dark custom Cherry finish

The driver cones are only 0.001 inch thick, so they're solid wood as most paper was originally solid wood too. Cabinets are extremely well finished for what is a $400 do-it-all package, get that old REL SW out of the closet and the system would be perfect for a computer or a bedroom TV. I think I'll buy it for my bedroom HDTV.

Mm, there is a difference.  Calling it paper completely misses the point.  It's not some processed pulp.  Paper is made by compressing pulp.  This is not it.  The looser definition of paper is a writing medium - and this clearly isn't it either.  You can see the grain of the wood in the cone.
