Up for sale is this special set of Dodd 50 watt monoblock amps. Many of you have probably seen these before since these were made for Danny Richie (GR Research) originally and were his primary amps for several years. They sound crystal clear, very resolving, and tons of muscle! I will be very sad to see these go but I'm in the middle of a whole house renovation which is eating up all my time and money. Local pickup is preferred in the Dayton Ohio area since these things way a ton, but if shipping is the only way I will consider it. Paypal or cash only please.

Here are some comments on the amps by Gary:

"This pair of amps were the first incarntion of the 50 watt mono's They were a custom design that lead to the 50 watters. They are somewhat different in they have a massive power supply and are built overkill unlike the actual product. The transformers are huge for a 50 watt amp, theres a huge meter on them for biasing. They are using Sonicap Platinums in the critical signal areas. It is a single tube push-pull design. Its bandwidth is approx 14hz- 40khz, input sens. is around 1.2 volts for full output, they have 4 and 8 ohm taps on them and it uses all Cardas terminations. As for the sound you must ask Danny , these were his primary amps for 3-4 years, I will tell you they are very good! :thumb:"

Good tip. Each amp has a single RCA 829B twin beam power tube and a pair of GE 7044 tubes. There is a small biasing "screw" on the top of each amp to dial it in using the large meter. Unfortunately I don't think Gary ever wrote up a manual for this style amp  but I could be mistaken. I'd be happy to answer any questions to the best of my ability.

Of course anyone in the area or willing to make the trip is more than welcome to audition and inspect them.

What is the target for the meter?  Dual beam power tetrodes are interesting tubes.  I have always wanted to play with one.

They were at 90 milliamps when I got them from Danny so that's where I've kept it.

829 are a inexpensive tube, USA made stocks are plenty.
