Initial Cyclops Feedback

Cyclops is basically Khartago with a passive volume control.  In our showroom, I have convinced Klaus to add additional HT bypass input and a switch at the back.  I have posted photo in another thread.

Regarding the sound, it is even better than Etesian + Khartago.  Probably because it eliminated some connectors in the signal path and cable length is minimized.  It delivers even more pure and clear sound.   It extended the high and low with better clarity.   I connect it to the Lorelei (as I receive them together and both need break-in).  The sound is great, very natural and comfortable to listen to it for long hours.

I turned the volume gradually to maximum.  Unlike active pre-amp stage, with the passive volume control, the sound quality is great even at maximum volume.  So what you need to check out is the maximum volume is sufficient.   To me, it is sufficient.

If your amp get balanced out, you can get higher volume as balanced out is at higher voltage.

It is running in our showroom and for those of you in HK or travelling to HK, you are welcome to visit us and send us your feedback.

After 2 weeks, the Cyclops becomes smoother.  I have moved the CD around and reduced the length of the signal cable to 1m.  My Cyclops is connected to Epiphony.  It sounds just amazing.  The dynamic is just great.  The soundstage is wide with excellent image. Bass is strong and confident.    I think Cyclops minimize the signal path and number of connectors which make it sounds better than Etesian + Khartago.   It is definitely best buy as an integrated amp.  I have owned integrated amp around 2.5 times the price of the Cyclops and it does not sound close to Cyclops.

I'm very satisfied with the sound.  I'm much more comfortable with the acoustics of the showroom.   It is a very enjoyable day after hard work tuning the showroom and the set-up.

Klaus, thank you for sending me one of the first 3 Cyclops. I think it is excellent for minimalist.    Connect the CD to Cyclops an Epiphony will deliver beautiful music.   Of course, you need to handle room acoustic which is a pre-requisite for good sound.

According to Klaus, it is going to be priced at US$895.  If you need a second input at the back for HT, the option will cost additional US$100.  It is available now.
