Anybody Hear Tesla Audio Speakers From Canada?

Just another brand I discovered, but haven't auditioned, as I continue to search for floorstanding loudspeakers around $2000. So... I just wondered if anybody knows the scoop on these?

I presume this is not the same Tesla (I don't believe these guys ever made speakers):
Quote
Tesla
A trademark used by the Teslar company that was based in Litovel in Czechoslovakia (now the Czech Republic). A huge company by Eastern European standards it manufactured anything from light bulbs to tape recorders, but was especially famous for it's turntables that occasionally turned up in the west under a variety of names. When the company was broken up in the early 1990's the turntable manufacturing part continued and produced the original Pro-Ject turntables. The turntable division was actually later taken over by Pro-Ject and serves as their main factory and parts of the Teslar valve manufacturing operation survive as JJ Electronic and KR Electronics. P.S. Not to be confused with the Yugoslavian Tesla electric manufacturing company (More appropriately named since Tesla was a Serbo-Kroat).

There are also 'Tesla' speakers showing up as PA speakers at PartsExpress ... getting warmer, maybe?

Hi, Inscrutable and J.North.

Thanks for your replies.

I guess the company name is technically "TeslAudio," instead of Tesla Audio.

Anyway here's a link to the Inner Ear Report cover story on them, and that's really everything I know about them.

Not enough to hang my hat on.

Yeah, I'd love to see more of Canada, and Alberta might be near the top of the list. I have the impression that Calgary is a very clean, exciting and cosmopolitan city!

I've only been to Niagara Falls on the Canadian side, which isn't really hardly getting into Canada, and to St. John's Newfoundland. Now THAT is a great place, very nautical, rustic and international. I can't recommend that enough- but only in May, June, July and August!

Two audiophile guys from The Great White North respond and neither has really heard of this company. That's not real encouraging.  :?  :?:

Calgary can be very pretty and is clean.. but just make sure to come in the summer, as falls and early spring are pretty bland out here, mostly due to the lack of rain.

PS  if you value your sanity, dont come during stampede.  ugh.

RooX, I would have the same thought about avoiding the Stampede! Unfortunately that's what Calgary is most noted for, but I'm sure there's a lot more to the story.

LonewolfNY42, yeah, those are some COLORS! Everybody is different, but personally I much prefer woods and veneers to paint on a speaker!

Hello, We offer the colors for impact but, true the natural woods are our number one sellers. <p> “We can create any finish for you.
Your imagination is the only limitation.”

The Colors on the website are just to show there is no limit to finish choices.

Hello, My name is Lonny E Seguin I am the designer of the Teslaudio Strata Live Speakers.
Hear is a little background and info: http://www.teslaudio.com
Teslaudio is a fairly new manufacturer of loudspeakers with a 6,000 sq.ft. facility housing manufacturing, design and administrative offices headquartered Edmonton Alberta, Canada. The company began operations in 1999 under the management of Lonny Seguin who is also the chief designer. He brings over five years of loudspeaker design, testing and implementation experience to the company. founding the company. Presently I am assisted by six dedicated audio team members.
Teslaudio has developed the Strata Live family of products through prototype development, beta testing, seed funding, and final production over the last five and a half years. We produces six models: two small bookshelf type designs (one with matching stands), the Strata 5KM and 5KT, one medium size floor standing model, the Strata 61, two centre channels one quite large 651C and a smaller version the 5KC and one large floor standing model, the 651 under review here.

Quote from the Inner Ear Report  http://www.innerear.on.ca/

"Each tone floats on an invisible stage, allowing listeners to pinpoint the location of each instrument's player, space between players, and the sensation of depth neatly arranges the musicians in focused rows from front to back. Image is not three- dimensional, it is multi-dimensional, thereby adding further refinement to the listening experience. The Stratas' other remarkable achievement is rock solid bass"

Hello RooX,
I will be in Calgary from the 10th to the 13th meeting with a couple stores. If you are interested in auditioning them pre store, let me know, because I would be willing to bring them to your home. If you are not comfortable with this I could contact a store to have them set-up for auditioning.

Regarding teslaudio
I have a pair of the teslaudio 651's and thought that it may help anwser a few questions that you all have about the line. I have a pair of the 651"s and Im running them with a classee cap 100 intergrated amp, and my source is a linn karik cd player. When I was looking to replace my magnapan mg-2b's I looked at every speaker under the sun, From the reference 3a's, sonus faber, wilson audio, and jm lab. I live here in edmonton and came accross a local news article about the flegling company and thought I'd go and check them out. When I got to there shop I knew I was in for a treat, everything is done in house, it was very cool because I got to see how there made and the amount of time that's spent on each one. I sat down and had a good look at the speakers, for those who havent seen a pair yet, you wont see another speaker like 'em. I had never seen a tweeter set up like this before and I gotta admit I was very skiptical about the design...untill I heard them. I like to think I have a pretty good ear for higher end audio (I've been doing it as a hobby for about 14 years now) And what I heard form these speakers I have never heard from any speaker anywhere near this price range, Soundstage is huge! bass is very well articulated and fast, not boomy but not afraid to give the pipe organ a go either. But I think what really sold me on them was there ability to image like no other speaker I've ever heard in my life. They are a bitch to find that sweet spot (at least in my room) but when you have it, it's magic, they really do dissapear. The vocals are so tangable you want to get up out of the chair and try to grab what your listing to, The depth is unreal as well you truly get a good feel for where in the room the band is playing not just how far apart they all are. from a looks perspective they are among the best looking speakers I've ever owned. I had mine done in a dark cherry that looks amazing. When I was in the store I did notice a pair of gun metal grey that, in the right room would look super hot. Lonny did tell me they make every color under the rainbow, they even showed me a pair of camoflauge one's that actually (again in the right room) look quite sharp. If anyone has any questions on here about the speakers Please drop me an e-mail and I'll do my best to answer all the questions you have. My e-mail is hobbitsnot@shaw.ca Oh and a small word of caution...they weigh about the same as a small honda so if you get a pair call a friend to help ya move them ;)

best regards

Mike Pelley
