Bryston/ATC

Anyone with any experience of driving ATC speakers with Bryston ST series? If not then any inefficient closed cabinet /infinite baffle speakers? How does this combination work in the bass area? Many thans for sharing your experience.

I've heard ATC SCM35s but not with Brystons.

They need a lot of power though. I needed at least 200W to get them to sing properly.

Very good speakers, but doesn't have the same dynamics and power in the bass region as PMCs. Probably a function of the sealed box design.

They are also ugly.

ATC and Bryston work well together.

ATC works really well with Plinius too. If Bryston is similar to Plinius then Bob's your Uncle.

Conventional wisdom is that ATC works best as active speakers with ATC matched amps.

Unless you are using the 12s or 35s, of course.

Active ATCs are in another league conpared to anything else I have heard.

Scary good...

"Active ATC's are in a different league" - I thought so, untill I heard 35's.
It's the same league by all counts, providing you have a really good amp.

I've also heard that ATC amplifiers are in many ways similar to Bryston. Both are companies with some professional heritage - it would be interesting to know if anyone had a chance to compare.
