FS: SEAS IDUNN SPEAKERS PIANO BLACK
« on: 21 Feb 2017, 03:52 pm »

I am an experienced speaker builder and I have built many speakers. As a result of my hobby I have a few extra ones lying around. There is one I recently built that I need to sell as it's taking too much storage and is in excellent condition. It's barely used - mostly for testing and box tuning. They sound excellent and have many years of service ahead of them.

As a reference I am including a review that an audio circle member wrote for an earlier project. He is a professional writer so the review is long and very beautifully written.

These speakers are built out of the seas idunn kit from madisound speakers. The boxes are Dayton audio piano black hifi speaker boxes - very solid with internal bracing - used by various high end custom manufacturers who are on this forum. Please see the link - the finish is a high gloss piano finish.

Some important features:
Excellent deep bass at reasonable volumes as a result of a 6.5 inch seas woofer.

Exceptional off axis performance as a result of the seas dot tweeter. Very revealing and not too bright. Loves well recorded music. Reasonable on poorly recorded music, but don't expect too much kindness. Don't expect any secret softening sauce here - it's accurate and flat in response. I am not a speaker manufacturer more an audiophile. My sensibilities are tilted towards accurate revealing designs.

They are also very friendly towards minor tweaking for diy and Dsp. If you want a downward tilt in tonal balance - this is were it comes in handy.

I prefer to sell locally in the NYC area. Can drive around in the  proximity and drop it off.

Looking at 550$ plus shipping to continental us, which does not cover the cost of materials, forget labor. Like all good speakers these are heavy - around 40 pounds as a result of heavy driver magnets and a braced .75 inch thick cabinet. The front baffle is 1 inch thick mdf.

Efficiency?  Can these be driven with an 8 watt SET?

Thanks.

Price reduced. Selling a couple extra pairs of speakers as a result of buying a new speaker. These are great sounding speakers, very easy to drive with low power amps as a result of high impedance across the frequency spectrum. Great deal imho. The kit costs more than the speakers.
