Anyone have experience with DEQX room eq

Hope this is the right venue for the post--anyone out there used the DEQX out of australia for room "treatment" and as the xover in an open baffle speaker design. Seems to me the storage of energy, whether in the speaker cabinet or the room is to a great extent the arch enemy of good sound reproduction. Using the DEQX with an open baffle design'dipolar speaker will helpo greatly on both counts? Thoughts?

Yes, I use one in my system.  Feel free to PM me if you have some specific questions.  Cheers, mac.

I heard the deqx/NAD home speaker system on the open floor of a busy trade show and determined that system was very pleasing. The system seemed to sound as big as life which i might attribute to the well integrated soundfield possible due to the benefit of dsp optimized crossovers. They were the most impressive after visiting pro monitor booths like Genelec, krk etc.

Hi,

I heard the deqx at my local hifi shop and they think it is pretty good.

It is however quite expensive.

Rod,

Right re the expensive part--but viewed as a digital preamp, active xover times 3, and a dsp room eq, beginning to look more reasonably priced attractive; plus as a development tool, the time savings in trying different xover slopes, Q's and frequencies seems worth its weight in gold. Mac's comments via PM have indced me to buy it.

I'm very interested in it since the review/overview at 6moons.  Have talked with Kim and Ian from DEQX and they've been very customer friendly and have answered every question I threw at them.  Bein all the way from Australia, they made a point of calling me back on my time, rather than theirs.  I'm considering it for the reasons denverdoc made (i.e many different functions), but am also considering the antithesis of it, also from Australia...i.e an all-analog tube preamp from Supratek (also nicely reviewed at 6moons).  What a conundrum.

Anyway, send Kim or Ian a note with any questions and they'll surely follow-up.  Great customer service....then again, so does Mick at Supratek. :|

deqx digital xover

Hi,

The local hifi dealer in perth has the deqx digital xover and preamp.  He builds speakers and is currently using the digital xover for one of his designs.

He has indicated that he really likes the xover but he prefers the bel canto preamplifier and next time will opt for the digital xover only.  As he is a dealer obviously he can afford to spend the extra $$$ to do this.  I think they sell for around $3000-3500au in oz.

It was interesting hearing his speaker design at different xover points.

Regards

Rod

Ps another product i can't afford  :(
