Only 45 watts RMS, no maximum output stated, no reviews, and Fluance makes some downright goofy gear.

Dayton Audio SUB-1000 is also a 10 inch sub, but has a 100 watt amp, lots of supportive reviews, and currently sells for $119 (if you can drop down from wood to vinyl finish).

Just letting AC'ers know what is new. Any new products usually does not have any reviews. 45 watts will play it loud enough to destroy your hearing and bother your neighbors.

And wood is nice.

Yes wood is nice.

Tom, have you heard or owned this sub, or are you speculating regarding it's output?  BTW my closest neighbor are 200 feet away and my listening rooms are both in the basement (they've near complained).

As you know, there are many legitimate and illegitimate ways of measuring power output.  Could be rated at peaks of 1,000 Hz signal under a steady sine wave at 4 ohms.  And what's the efficiency and impedance of the driver?

No information on the amp or driver.  How well is the cabinet built?  How about an image of the backside to see what connections, controls, and power cord is provided?

I'm just leery of unknowns and wouldn't buy without more information.

As I said, just passing the info, nobody here has to buy any. I bought two Harman (Infinity) refrubs, off of Ebay for $150 each and very happy. They have dual 10" woofers with real wood. So I do not need any subs.

I did buy the Dayton SUB-1200 12" sub (with 120W amp) and it works very nicely and gets nice and low and loud for movies and music. It's selling for $150. Probably a safer bet.

For the Canadians here, the 10" powered sub from PE is $255 to your door (tax, shipping, duty, and conversion), where as the Fluance one is $302 (Tax and shipping).

Looking forward to reviews.

My reaction skews two ways on this. I'm definitely on the cheap-can-be-wonderful side: I'm happily using Fluance XL5Fs as mains, having picked them up at the $200-a-pair clearance price. Their main lack, which I suspect was the cause for their being discontinued, is in the bass. So I get a BIC America F12 for $200. It's got more clean power than I need, far more than this new Fluance sub (the amp for the mains is an Onkyo TX-NR 828, picked up for half price after that had become a last-year's model). And the BIC's a 12" speaker. Goes with the Fluance mains just fine. I was a bass player in my youth. The realism is decent with this combination, especially on the bass end. So I dont' get why Fluance is trying to sell into a space where there's already a good competitive product offering far more at that price point.

Not that I don't respect Fluance. The XL5Fs have far better mid- and high-range fidelity than the Klipsch RB-51s I formerly used as mains. Not that the Klipsch speakers don't have a pretty sound; it's just not as realistic and complex.
