About 6 years ago, I had Bob Brines of Brines Acoustic design and build for me a custom pair of cabinets for my field coil drivers. I am in the process of moving to another state, and during this transition, have decided to try using my drivers in an open baffle arrangement in my new place. As a result, I would like to sell the cabinets to someone who could use them.
Pics of the cabinets are provided below - Sorry I could not figure out how to rotate the photos. Drivers not included.
The cabinets are in great shape. Pretty much in the same condition as the day I received them. The veneer is black walnut and the cabinets are made from baltic birch. The cabinets also include a baffle step controller. The external dimensions of my cabinets are:
Height: 41.25" (not including the base),
Width: 11.5"
Depth: 11.5"
I recently corresponded with Bob Brines. See the email exchange copied and pasted below. In his reply to me, he indicates that Tang Bang W8-2145 drivers will be a drop-in replacement in these cabinets. These drivers cost about $100/each from Parts Express.

I have the original shipping boxes. Each box w/ cabinet weights around 60 lbs. I'm guessing shipping will be between $150-$200, depending where you live. I am currently in the SF Bay area. A local sale would be ideal, but am willing to ship if buyer covers the actual costs.
At this price, you can put together a very nice pair of single driver speakers for around $400-$600, depending if shipping the cabinets is required.

Hi Bob:
About 6 years ago, you built a pair of cabinets for my field coil drivers. A picture of one of the cabinets is attached as a reminder.
I am getting ready to sell my house in California and move to Arizona. After this transition, I would like to try something new - open baffles and subs.
I would prefer to sell the cabinets rather than tossing them away. If I remember correctly way, you mentioned these cabinets are almost the same as those you use for the Tang Bang W8-1772 drivers.
The external dimensions of my cabinets are:
Height: 41.25" (not including the base),
Width: 11.5"
Depth: 11.5"
I've also attached several photos of one of the cabinets with my driver removed. The circumference of the outer and inner circles of the cut out for the driver are:
Outer: 232mm
Inner: 185mm
The 8" Tang Band frame is 223mm OD and 190mm ID.
My questions are:
1. Will the volume of these cabinets work for the W8-1772 drivers?
Actually, a bit small. My preference is for 10x12" rather than 10x10". The W8-2145 would be a better fit, and half the price.2. Will the driver drop right in, or will some modifications be needed?
I would cut a circular cover to fit over the current driver hole and mount the new driver on that.Bob
