Actually I purchase Naim amplification 202/hicap2/200 :D   I waiting for Mike to buy me the CDS3 and supercap2 :P

I'm competing with Chris to see who can accumulate the most toys.  Of course Richard is in a different competition than Chris and me.

I think I heard the CD5 and the CDX some time ago. I much preferred the CD5 for the music I had with me.  I could see the CDX sounding good on those few discs done well but that isn't how I want my system to sound, good for only the few discs.  I'd take the CD5 anyday.

I agree with Josh.  If you are going top-of-the-line NAIM, you would rather go NAIM all-the-way.  This is not the route I want to go.  I like Talk Thunder's Anagram Technologies 24bit/192Khz upsampling DAC .-Levi

I'm surprised more NYRaver's aren't using Naim equipment given its excellent reputation for rock, jazz and new age.

I tried to audition NAIM products a while back.  Considering how slow the economy, too bad NAIM dealers in NYC did not returned my call.  Cheers to the small companies like Talk Electronics.

I like Rock, I like metal, I like blues and classical but I am only mildly interested in Jazz and not at all in New Age.  I heard NAIM gear at length a few times and it always sounded harsh to me.  Crespo says the new stuff is much better but I haven't heard it.

Actually the CDX was their top of the line at the time but I didnt' like it because it was too brutal, I liked their entry level much better because it was more forgiving.   That was on the dealer's gear though, with NAIM components and Thiel CS2.2 speaks (like maddog has).  The Theils were good on the right gear but a bit brutal on the NAIM, the Dynaudio was a better match IMO and the B&W Naut on NAIM was autrocious.

I've had the opportunity to hear every Naim CD player- save for the Naim CD5i.   All are a departure from the olive series Naim Josh initially heard if he heard the CDX.  A lot ot the Naim faithful are pissed off by the more organic sound that the new line of Naim CD players (they actually soundstage now and have tonal color  ), but these are people completely obsessed with PRAT and need the leading edge to hit them over the head like a mallet.  I think Naim are making smart moves by embracing more "audiophile" values while not eschewing the PRAT that has made them famous.  Audioslave and I just heard the top of the line Naim components (Nac 552/Nap 500/CDS3/ super cap, blah blah) with Wilson Watt Puppies at Innovative and it was really shocking how liquid it sounded.  It almsot didn't sound like Naim until the CDS3 locked onto the groove.

Anyway, I love Naim- just want to get into it completely and at the right level (mid level stuff- Nac 282/NAP 250/CDX2).  I think Emil should introduce us all to the new entry level Naim/Neat by hosting a rave.  (Sorry to nominate you, Emil!).  His system is hands down the best system I've ever heard for rock and it's pretty inexpensive.  Or hoggster could just buy a CDS3 already and hold another rave with all his Naim!

It would give me a chance to meet bugleboy ( if he really exists   )

I can provide transportation from the RR station if need be.

Very nice system, Emil.  I've not heard the Neat speakers so that would be a treat.

My journey with Naim started a few years ago.  I purchased a 112/150 combo; later added a Flatcps2 and CD5.  This past winter I sold it all, thinking it too expensive to follow the Naim upgrade path.  This fall I talked to someone who has owned everything in the line except the 552/500 and CDS3.  He convinced me to try above the entry level.  With the market for used Naim on Audiogon, I again took the plunge.  I have to say the advice was spot-on.  Interestingly for me, the tone has to be right or I don't like the gear.  The Naim setup I currently have is all about tone.

Emil, if you have a Rave I could bring my Royd RR1's.  I believe the group would be amazed at what such a small speaker can do.  That's assuming the listening room isn't too large.

Allright, Emil.  I think it is time you came to a Rave finally!!!  Also, grab a date to host a Rave.  I know I'd like to grab my girlfriend to hear your system, since Naim is clearly in my future plans.
