It's been 43 years since I bought my first piece of audio, a Kenwood KR-1400 receiver. Since then there's been a array of receivers, Kenwood, Nikko, Harman Kardon, et al. Speakers have included infinitys, JBLs, Dahlqists, and more. Amps, preamps and more.
I did get clean for a while. An Acurus amp and a pair of Boston Acoustic speakers to go with my Philips CD player. I was an infrequent user. Just enough to be in the game but still retain some semblance of sanity.
Then it started again. With 70's era receivers; that beautiful blue glow emanating from brushed aluminum faceplates. I couldn't resist. Willpower? What's that?
Now it's tubes. Those gorgeous little glass bottles glowing with warmth and the promise of a sweet, liquid sound. The kind that makes you wish you didn't have other distractions- wives, children, jobs.
So, I'm back. And I thank you for welcoming me into this community of like-minded souls who, even they could, probably wouldn't stop this never ending attempt at sonic nirvana.
Thank you for reading. And with your help, I may never be cured, but, I will be happy.
