I'm here to read and learn (mostly)
« on: 25 Jan 2017, 10:12 pm »
Hi all.
I'm newer to hi-fi and I'm here to listen, ask some hopefully educated questions, and learn a thing or five.

I've inherited most of my gear, but have been upgrading as I can, with the mindset of diy. (Doing this on my own has been as enjoyable a hobby as a good listening session.)

I have an AR XA w/Grado, Nikko Beta 40 Pre, Nikko Alpha III Power, AR91 (3-way, floorstanding)
I dream about building my own Phono Preamp, interconnects, a pair of speakers my wife digs, and a turntable someday.

So far, my exposure to Hi-Fi has been Jim Smith's podcast, Allen Wright's Tube Amp Cookbook, and some of Frank Van Alstine's Audio Basics archives.

I share my listening space with my kids (3 & 1) My kids dig the music and we have a lot of fun.

Yep welcome friend. This is a great resource. Learned a lot & met some damn nice people, many of them face to face. I admire anyone who wants to pursue a DIY approach.

Best of luck to you in your audio journey.
