I was just wondering if some of you can share your tube-rolling experiences with this DAC (it takes a 6DJ8).  I have gotten a couple suggestions, but the the tubes suggested are a bit pricey at thetubestore.com and tubeworld.com.

I'm also open to suggestions on another reputable source to buy a tube online. . . or, if some of you have a good spare you are willing to part with. . .

Thanks!

I'm using a Siemens E88CC gold pin tube and while it wasn't a huge difference it was rather nice.  I, too, was shocked by the price of some of these and wasn't willing to part with $75 for it.  So I found someone who was selling 3 of them, got a decent deal on them (from ebay, someone I'd dealt with before) kept the one that wasn't matched and sold the matched pair on agon for nearly what I paid for the three of them.  So, the one I kept ended up being about $25.

A place with a good selection of tubes at non-inflated prices is Leeds Electronics (sales2@leedselect.com).  Ask for Richard (I think he is the owner).  Not that it matters, but Leeds is located in Brooklyn, NY.

I purchased a pair of Amperex 6922, PQ, white label, US shield, gold pins from Richard.

These work very well in an Audio Logic 24 MXL dac.  Very noticable difference over a pair of Sovteks.
