Kyle,

I can stop by this time so we can put the Denon against the very best you have. The other way would be to just have one of my customers buy your ...

Sorry to butt in, Alex.  But if such a "shootout" occurs in Southern California (I believe RAM is in San Bernardino County), please invite a few AudioCircle/LAOC Audio society members to act as impartial observers.  We all do hope a friendly, impartial listening session could be arranged.

No problem Jon, I hope this can be arranged. It is up to RAM at this point. I am looking forward to it.

Alex,

Probably not going to Vegas this year as I am  booked through the Holidays.
Since I just sold my reference Cocobolo SA-1, I am currently buildling the new SA-1 reference here at RAm which will take things much further then before.   I will certainly let you know when my "best" is available.  I look forward to hearing your..."best"

Sincerely,

Kyle Takenaga

Kyle,

I am sorry you can't make it to the show! The combination ESP, Concert Fidelity, APL Hi-Fi really deserves to be auditioned.

Anyway, please let me know what is the timeframe we are looking at for completing your new SA-1. I will try to coordinate my trip to San Diego and eventual "shootout" at your site (or anywhere you'd like). Since the event in San Diego will take place in one of the largest Audio dealers there, will involve the latest from EMM labs and about 30-40 Audiophiles attending, you migh consider bringing your SA-1 down to San Diego as well. I am sure that San Diego Audiophile Society will welcome this idea and will be thrilled to hear your art work.

Happy Holidays!

Alex, I will be in LA area from 12/18 - 1/8. If this SD demo is going to take place during the meanwhile, please let me where it is going to take place because I would love to attend.  I have meant to audition your Denon 3910, Meitner DCC2/Transport, and RAM SA-1 (if will also be present).  In this case,  I may be able to kill three birds with one stone! :)

Dear Alex,

I will be honest with you and everybody else .  My best efforts have simply not been achieved yet,due to the cost of the parts I literally "dream" of using. As you know I am the distributor for Audio Consulting and we believe they develop the absolute best parts that exists.  However, I must say these things are NOT cheap. Our reference has "still" always been limited by budgetary constraints.  I do have a stock SA-1 here ready for "gutting" .  One example are the power transformers I intend to use.  The M65 silver power transformers alone run about $750.00 ea  It will be optimal for me to use 4 of them.   On the "crazy" side we may pursue 4 Silver Rock power transformers...uh, twice as much...     The point is my "best" will take several months to develop primarily due to the cash I have to budget for this all out attempt.  Also, the chassis will be redesigned in Oak this time around for simplicity rather then extravagant Cocobolo.    Just takes so much time.  If you are willing to wait I have no problem having a shootout and simply enjoying music.

Best Regards,

Kyle Takenaga

Kyle Takenaga:
Shocking what the price of things cost these days. Not only for the parts that you want to use in your mod packages but even the cost of doing business. Years ago when the guy down the street opened his doors for business the first $250 covered expenses for the day. Now it costs $2500 to cover daily expenses. AHHH!! The good old days. I sure hope that everything works out for you in this new mod package you are trying to put together. I for one would like to hear your modded Denon.

                    Good luck and cheers
                    Charlie
