Sold: Quad II Forty monoblocks - $1,400

These are a pair of the best tube amps I've owned, but I am downsizing to an integrated solution to spend time on other things.

Tim de Paravicini upgraded Peter Walker's famous Quad ii circuit to deliver a healthy 40 watts of push/pull KT88 tube power. The result is a more dynamic, modern sound that still retains the midrange magic of the originals coupled with tremendous bass. They easily sound better than the McIntosh MC275 and you get monoblocks to boot. The Quad II Forty uses 5U4G tube rectifiers and KT88 output tubes. The input tubes are NOS from the factory, but stock russion tubes are included - which I highly recommend tube rolling (Valve Art or Black Treasure KT88s were my favorites on them). I am the second owner and purchased the amps in 2013. MSRP is $4,500 and my asking price is $1,400.

Full disclosure, a power transformer went down the year I purchased them and Quad shipped me a new one (paint is within Quad's spec, but is 99% of the original as can be seen in the photos). Bob Hovland, of Hovland and Co. did the repair and was very complementary of their performance. They have operated flawlessly since. There are a few marks on the amps, but overall in very good shape. 7/10 due to the transformer replacement, but almost 70% off list to a lucky buyer :)

This pair is located in Los Angeles, CA and local buyers will be given preference.  Will ship Fedex - stock tubes and cages are packed separately, so it will be 3 boxes. Please read the reviews and specs below and let me know if you have any questions.

I have a ton of feedback under KeithR on the 'gon as well as the VMPS/Evoke "dude", John Casler, on this forum.  Cheers- and purchase with confidence!
