I had a good conversation with Louis a couple of days ago which resulted in me ordering these. I currently have an Ayre AX7e integrated amp, and I intend to try this amp with the Omegas. There is a chance I will wind up switching to a tube amp, maybe one of the Decware amps, but I want to try the Ayre first.  I'm wondering if anyone on this forum has any experience with the Ayre AX7e with Omega?

I own a Decware Torii IV and a small Decware SE84UFO. I use the small one with SUPER 3 DESKTOP at work and the big one with the now discontinued SUPER 7XRS. I like both amps a lot.

HOWEVER, I've removed the Torii IV and replaced it with a vintage Eico HF81 that was refurbished by vintagevacuumaudio. The sound identity is quite different: less bright, a wee bit less detailed, a lot more bass, and for me, far more pleasing. I never could get rid of a very faint hum on my Torii and it was driving me nuts, even though I couldnt hear it when I played, even at low levels. The Eico is silent and, as I said, gave me more pleasure.

HOWEVER, I have just recently been able to buy a second hand Swissonor AM6441 for a fraction the price when new and think I've found the perfect balance between the Eico and the Decware. I had discovered that company in Switzerland at Schopper (the world's largest reseller of Thorens turntables) and was able to play my own production on their amp and had been "wowed".

Now having shared my experience, I certainly do not mean to say this or that model is an absolute better proposition for your listening needs.

The Ayre should work extremely well with the Super Alnico HO monitors.  It's a great integrated amp.  If you get a chance to pick up a used Decware Zen SE84 amp, you might want to give it a try.  I have an older model Omega speaker paired with a Decware Zen amp and its a really good combination.

BTW, I put my order in for for a pair of Super Alnico HO floorstanders a couple weeks ago.  Birds Eye Maple front and rear panels with Cherry on the sides and top.  I'll be pairing it with a Steve Deckert's Decware Mystery amplifier & CSP3 preamplifier.

When was this model discontinued?   The Omega site still shows it as current.

I think it is the downsized MkII that is current.  The original Super 7's are gone.

Thanks for these replies. I am aware of the Swissoner and will look further. The Ayre has been my amp for about 8 years and I like it, just wonder if it will match up with the new speakers. Keeping it would be simpler since I also have the Ayre CD player and my phono stage is also fully balanced. However I am very intrigued by tubes.
