Drivers located off center can mitigate edge diffraction related frequency response anomalies. Some resort to doing that instead of or in addition to heavily rounding over the edges.

Since other current models use the same exact RS5 driver (Super 3i, Super 3XRS) and center it, why is it offset on this model?

I have a pair of Super 7XRS mk2, and a local buddy has Super 3XRS, both with centered drivers and the imaging with both is SPECTACULAR!     If this pair is much better, they are indeed special.
