New member to Audio Circle. Audio has been a passion for 37 years, since age 14. Currently a systems administrator. Electronics background: 8 years as an avionics and electronics calibration technician in the Navy.

Have been into computer audio since 2007. Big fan of and user of Empirical Audio products since 2008. Upsampling during playback from 16/44.1 to 24/192. Use digital domain EQ. Have experimented with computer based DSD over USB and Firewire.

Past and present speakers: JBL studio monitors of various generations: ALNICO, ceramic and neodymium magnet types and various crossover slopes. 2 pair of Martin Logan electrostatic, Oris 2 foot horns with 8” AER neodymium drivers, Lowther PM2A open baffle project pending. Celestion , KEF and B&W 802 S3 with North Creek crossovers and Sound Anchor stands. Built super tweeter crossover for ribbon tweeter. Have run speakers full range, bi-amped and tri-amped with passive and active crossovers. I like using a DSP crossover / EQ for my 2 servo subs.

Associated Tube amps: Conrad-johnson, Welborne Labs, Cary Audio and classic McIntosh (monoblock, stereo, ultra linear, SET and triode versions). Solid state amps:  Threshold, Pass Labs, Conrad-johnson and classic McIntosh.

Preamp experience: Tube, conrad-johnson and Cary. BIG fan of Jensen PIO copper caps.

DAC experience: California Audio labs, Mytek, PS Audio, Theta Gen V and VIII.

Amplifier voicing experience: Welborne DRD-45 SET amp. Tuned with a mixture of all film and film and oil caps / bypass caps. Eliminated the electrolytic caps. Cary Super Amp Signature – restored using Jensen oil caps and Solen film caps. Solid state: recently voiced a Threshold TA-300 amp using a network of bypass caps in the power supply.

Giving back: As a hobbyist, audio equipment leaves my house in better condition than when it arrives.
