My Nightingales Arrived!!!!!
« on: 18 Nov 2004, 01:39 pm »
First,   a big thank you to Klaus,  for getting them out to me so quickly!!!

Considering the man's workload,  I'm very appreciative.

I heard a knock on my back door,  but when I looked through the window........there was no one there.

I opened the door and looked to the left ....on my back porch,  and there was this big box sittiing there :o

I knew what it was :hyper:  :hyper:    The Nightingales!!!

The box arrived intact.   As are the Nightingales.

One thing I must say,  the Nightingales sure look cool   in the pictures on the internet.

But when seen in person,  I find them beautiful....stunning! They really have to be seen in person,  in order to completely appreciate them.  Well-made,  quality workmanship.

Mine are in the light Cherry................as I said.......beautiful!

I may have some pics to show,  by tomorrow or sometime during the weekend.

I won't get a chance to hook them up and start their break-in,  till the weekend.

I'll post my experiences and opinions in this thread,  as I get the Nightingales cranking...........over the next few days.

Congrats on your new speakers.

I have had mine for some months now and they are truely great speakers. Very nice looking and very nice sounding.

I normally listen to the music off Nils Lofgren, Tracy Chapman, Norah jones etc and it sounds very, very good and very real. Do not think that they can not play bas. Hard Rock like Metallica is no problem.

Looking forward to hearing more about your view on the Nightingale.

Those links were working last night,  when I tested them;  but for some reason .........now they're not.

I must have screwed something up.

" What's the triangular prism on the bottom front half of the Nightingale for? "  -Randy

The Nightingales utilize a down-firing bass port.

I imagine that's why the Nightingales were designed that way.

The bottom of the Nightgales sit about 3/4 of an inch off the provided base/plinth,  using couplings as the supports,  which are provided.  It takes about 5-10 minutes to align the couplings,  the plinth and then to screw them in securely. Easy.

Besides,  it looks really cool

You're Welcome  8)

I added three more pics to the gallery ...just now.  Bringing the total amount of pics to 9,  from the previous amont of 6.

They're not great pics,  but they'll have to do for now.

Hey TjMV3, what's yer name?

Can you measure the footprint on these puppies for me as well as the top profile? I don't really think they are 6" X 6" as listed on Odyssey's site.

I'm seriously considering these for my bedroom system.

Tony  8)

Because of the odd ....but cool shape of the Nightingales and it's base/plinth,  the measurements are not consistant through out.  So I measured the widest and longest points.

Top Width:  The widest part of the width is just a hair under 7 inches.

Top Depth (with grills on) :   9 1/8 inches .  The grill's frame adds  5/8 of an inch to that total.  Deduct 5/8 of an inch to determine depth without the grills.

Bottom Base/Plinth Width:  10 1/2 inches at it's widest point

Bottom Base/Plinth Depth :  15 7/8 at it's longest (deepest) point.

I'm also going to.....eventually..... be using the Nightingales in my bedroom. But they will see some action in the Livingroom,  my home office and maybe one other room,  just for the sake of seeing how they do in different rooms and for the sake of matching them up with other Amps/components....to see how well they mate.  But they are designated for the master bedroom.
