I have been looking at these two speakers and notice a slit at the bottom in the front.  They are both ported speakers.
Does this mean they are front-ported?  I haven't been able to see any back-side views of these speakers.

Yes, front ports. Many times bookshelf speakers are given limited space so if you actually place them against a wall or bookshelf, then the port can do its thing.

Awesome.  I was thinking of a wall-mount speaker instead of stands.

Yes, if you see a slot on the bottom front of a speaker, it is front ported with a slot port.  If they are rear ported, you will not see this.
