NW DIY EVENT

Well it's that time of the year again - time for a Northwest DIY (do-it-yourself) audio event!

Why you should come...
For those who are interested, you're welcome to drop by just to listen to the designs on hand, or if you have them, please bring speaker designs or amp kits that you have built yourself. The more equipment that we have to audition and knowledge/opinions to discuss, the better.

Why you should come...
This is a great opportunity to ask questions of experienced designers/builders, show off your hard work, and discuss the latest audio hardware/designs with people who are "in the know." The goal is primarily to have a great day rubbing elbows and engaging in dialogue with fellow audio hobbyists, technicians, DIY enthusiasts, home theatre junkies, and discriminating audiophiles.

You want sponsors? We got 'em...
Dan from Adire Audio in Seattle has again generously presented us with an Adire sub driver (this year it's a fantastic DPL12) to give away as a door prize. Additionally, Dedicated Audio has helped us out again this year.

A big "Thank you!" to both of those sponsors!

Details, details, details...
when: November 20, 2004
10AM-5PM

where: RAW Acoustics
                16756 - 85 Ave.
                Surrey, BC
                Canada

See you Friday Kevin.
Will be a BIG day Saturday for sure

darn, a month later and I would have been there..... I'll be in the Portland & Seattle areas over the holidays.

Those are some might impressive looking line arrays there.  What is that 18 mids per side?  That has got to be some moolaw in drivers.

The event was lots of fun.   I'll post some pictures next week once I get caught up with all the phone calls, email and orders.

There where more speakers at the event than you could shake a stick at.    My favorites where a simple two-way with Morel midbass + Usher 9550 tweeter, the WR125 in a funky John Chapman designed TL made from layers of MDF and Seas CA15 + OW2 ported two-way designed by Dennis Murphy.

I was on the lookout for a good tweeter to use for a couple projects and I think I'm going to try the Usher 9550C-15.   It looks to measure great, have top-notch build quality and fit within my price point.   It also sounded pretty good.   :)

A big thanks goes out to Al Wooley for hosting the event!

Didn't get much relaxation but it was a ton of fun.   Are you going to the Dec 5th Bottlehead meeting?

Yes... they use 18 of the WR125ST's per side.   At $69/driver that is a chunk of change.   The OEM Arum Cantus ribbons are not cheap either.  Lucky for me I don't like ribbons nor line arrays so I have no desire to build a pair.  I'll sell you the drivers though if that is your cup of tea!
