Cloud backup

I have amassed about 15tb of music on hard drives and am thinking about going with a cloud based backup service. Has anyone done this? Who has the best prices?

Crashplan sounds like a good service from what I have read. Easy to use and unlimited backup for $59.99 a year.

Hope you have a decent internet plan, 15TB of upload may cost you, and take a long time.

Please tell me you have a current backup plan...

Even a 1TB Cloud plan from iCloud costs $$.  I cannot even phantom what it would cost for 15 TB.  The fact is that you need to take into consideration many factors such as quality of your broadband plan as well as the bandwidth of your WIFI network.  I think that is one of the reasons why ready Cloud based lossless hi definition audio streaming is not picking up yet because of the two impediments I stated.

For reference quality digital reproduction, all those things need to be taken into account.  It is much more involved than just simply loading up lossless tracks on a computer and have them hardwired to a DAC converter then into a system.   :thumb:

Costco sales drives cheap, I think they had a 5T for @$80?.

I have a set here. 1 set in fireproof safe and 1 set at a friend's.

Back in the day of 5.25 floppys there were only three words in computing.  BACKUP BACKUP BACKUP.

Your can look into a Raid drive array and go all geek

I would consider getting some external drives and backup yourself.

Ideally you would get 30TB of backup storage.
You could do 30 TB in a raid (15 TB usable)
And then 15 TB more in external drives.

Crash plan is great, but any cloud backup will be slow:

Quote
How much can I expect to back up to CrashPlan Central in a day? (CrashPlan for Home only)
On average, you can expect your CrashPlan Central backup to progress by at least 10 GB of information a day, as long as your computer is powered on and not in standby mode.

15TB = 15000GB

10 GB per day = 1500 days....almost 3 years.

Ouch, that's not going to work! I'll look into the external drive RAID option.

My years have 365 days in them, so actually just over 4 years;)
