New Remote volume "component" for Jolida & Mo
« on: 15 Nov 2004, 11:16 pm »
Greetings all,
We previously mentioned a remote volume unit that we were going to release to accomidate the Jolida tube amps. Well, it seems Jolida beat us to this. The unit shown below is designed to allow the amplifier to sit right on top (will hold up to about 100 lbs). Recent orders have been coming in for our exclusive custom "A" series amps with a pre out/main in so the JD50 will act as the preamp for these units. AT this time, the JD50, as shown below, is very limited and for those who have ordered one of our custom Jolida units, or currently has a Jolida 302/502, we are taking orders now.

We will also have a package put together for the ASL AV-25 units. Just imagine a pair of these mono blocs resting atop the JD50.

By the way, the price of this unit is only $240.

Yes, we are still offering the remote volume within the components that will accomidate the motorized pot.

For more information on this and the new JD700 DVD player and JD9 phono amp, please visit our website!!!

Just to clarify a little - is this a preamp, or is it a passive volume stage that is remote controlled?  Tube based?

Help?

Hi Mark,
It is basically a passive preamp (no tubes) but does has relays for switching on the components that are plugged into the back of it.

Thanks for the clarification Bill, I appreciate it - looks like a nice piece, and is full sized too, unlike some of the other passives out there.  Should visually partner well with most gear.

HI Josh, not sure what you are referring to in "volume scheme" as it is just a passive unit but it is using the ALPS Blue 100k stereo pot. routed to two sets of outputs soa subwoofer or biamping can be utiliz3ed. Pretty cut and dry in that regard.

Bill, any idea on the price of the new phono preamp?  Also, have you heard the new DVD player?  If so, any impressions on it for Redbook compared to the JD100?  Thanks in advance.

This is the same phono stage found in their $1,500 Envoy preamp. The price on the stand alone JD9 phono stage will be only $450

I have not heard it but will be putting an order in shortly. I did speak with Jolida today and they said it sounded very good but maybe not on par with the JD100 for redbook two channel playback. Honest enough, I guess.

Pricing:
 JD9 phono stage $450
 JD50 remote component $240
 JD700 DVD player $1,100

Thanks you answered my question. Nowadays there seems to be a lot more methods of volume control than pots/attenuators so that is why I was vague.
