Hello, all. I joined here some time ago and promptly did nothing! I had less time for audio pursuits but a recent move and substantial downsizing process has me rethinking everything. So I wanted to look around, learn, and enjoy the sight.

Reactivation - sounds like a cyborg.   

If downsized and starting over, suggest (if you're a digital source kind of guy) considering:   

Laptop via longish USB cable to a DAC/preamp to active speakers.  That's what I'm running right now ($74, 3 meter long Straight Wire USB cable to $800 DSPeaker DAC/preamp via $25, 15 foot long Monoprice XLR cables to $850/pair Dynaudio BM5 Mk III active 2-way stand-mounts).  $1749 plus stands for very solid performance (F3 = 42 Hz, 118 dB peak)

If you want a lower impact system:  Laptop (or phone) with Audioengine $750/pair HD6 powered 2-way stand-mounts (wireless connection, comes with speaker cable).  (F3 = 50 Hz)

Throw in a $20/month subscription to Tidal and gain 24/7 anywhere access to 16 million albums.

Thanks for the welcomes. Moving and setting up a new house this summer has been a chore, to say the least. My large speakers are all now gone and I ended up with a pair of Rainmaker Totems and a Hegel H80 integrated amp as the foundation for a mostly digital music collection, though I did keep some CDs and albums. Hope to hang out around here a bit more in the future. Back to work!
