Hi, this is my first posting on this forum. I ordered a pair of extreme monos for my Magneplanar 3.6's in September and have just spoken to Klaus and UPS should deliver them Tuesday. First time Odyssey purchase for me.
I have a split HT/stereo system using a Outlaw 950 pre-pro for HT, a McIntosh C20 for stereo, and a Creek OBH12 to switch between the two. Sources include a Rega Planet cd player, Rega P3 tt, Sony DVD/SACD player, and a Dish network receiver. Speakers are all Maggies: Mg3.6 l/r front, MGCC3 center, MG10 l/r surrounds, MGSSS1 rear surrounds, plus a Hsu sub.
The Odyssey amps will be replacing a Parasound HCA2003a three channel amp that I've been using for front speaker duties. I'll continue to use the Parasound for center channel and surround duties; though if the extremes work out as well as I'm hoping, I may have to start saving for a third mono for center channel duty.
I have never had any experience with any Odyssey products, but they do seem to offer maximum bang for the buck preformance from the reports I've come across. I guess that I'll just have to begin to hear it for myself tommorow.
I know that the extreme monos will take quite some time to fully break in but I am hoping that I will see some rather rapid improvement over what I'm using now after a few days or weeks.
Sorry for the long, rambling post but the long wait for the amps after saving up for their purchase combined with the anticipation of their arrival has me excited. Hope to be able to report back favorably on the monos in the near future.
