New to AudioCircle
« on: 6 Jul 2016, 02:49 am »
Hi, I'm Jeff.  New to AudioCircle but I've been a closet audiophile for about 25 years.  "Closet" only because my budget has not met my audio ambitions; but I guess that's the case for most of us.  I've mostly been into digital in the past, but I re-discovered vinyl recently when I inherited my father's vintage Garrard Synchro Lab 95 SL and his record collection.  From the first album, I understood what everyone has been saying all these years about vinyl being superior to CD. :duh:  So, after several years away from audio, I'm back with two projects:

1. Restore the Garrard to its fully automatic, record-changing glory,
2. Acquire a better, modern turntable for my primary system (just a taste has already got me into upgrade mode!)

Looking forward to interacting with the folks here at AudioCircle; looks to be a good crowd!

After a four-year hiatus, I'm back on AudioCircle.  A few things have changed...

1. I never did get that Garrard turntable restored. Gave it a shot but then wondered why I was doing it if I really wanted to upgrade anyway.
2. I did upgrade to a VPI Traveler 1.1 that I purchased from another AudioCircle member - still with me since 2016.
3. I loved the 'table and upgraded the cartridge to a Hana SL and the phono to a Sutherland Insight.  Still quite happy!
4. I now have two systems to whittle down my savings in upgrades.  One main system and one in the home office.
5. Doubled down on my Bryston gear to acquire a B100-SST for the office system.  Can't get enough Bryston amps!

Back in the Bryston circle as I contemplate what to do with my 4B-ST amp now that the B100-SST has outclassed it in some respects...
