That is the sexiest sawhorse\butcher block I ever saw! :o  Geez Chris, leave some wood for the rest of the world will ya!?

The digiphotophile in me is willing to put money on the fact that these photos

Were taken with some form of Nikon Coolpix model with the sharpening turned on.  Ewww...those thick, heavy edges, super plugged-up shadows...eech.  Ahh, but the beauty of the TT still permeates that.

He didn't take quite all the cocobolo, I had my platter machined last Saturday. I have a good friend who does custom machine work and agreed to whittle away on my platter. He even customized the label relief with some engraving.

No extra edge enhancement Nathan but still strictly amateur. :)

Mike,
That looks great :o , will you add some weight underneath the platter,
Also are you going to use a varnish on it?

Pete,

I will be adding lead to the platter in pretty much the same manner as the commercial Teres turntables. I have a 25lb bag of #9 lead shot and will be boring 12 large holes in the bottom and filling them with the shot. I've been thinking about what to plug the holes with and I believe brass freeze plugs and epoxy should work nicely. Not very expensive and certainly non magnetic.  :o

As for a finish, I'm still thinking about it. I posted the question to the Teres mailing list and received a variety of suggestions. Chris uses epoxy but I don't have any way to ensure a smooth even coat so it's likely I will use something like a polyurethane or lacuqer.  Tung oil would be beautiful but I'm worried about the migration of the oil from the platter to my records.

shokunin,

Sad to say I haven't done much since the last post. I started a new job the next day and have been working way too many hours. I should actually have a couple of days off this week and hope to do some work on the 'table. I did polish up the base one night. It's acrylic for now as I got a good deal on it. I hope to build a nice cocobolo base in the spring but for now the acrylic one will do.
