Preacher keeps getting better with each episode. Based on the comic book series, Preacher is a new 2016 series on AMC. The first 5 minutes introduces us to a supernatural life force, a Preacher looking for God, a vampire and a cow in a remote West Texas town... and then it gets weird.

Funny and addicting but not for the squeamish. 8.7 stars out of 10 on IMDb.
Don't read reviews, any spoilers will spoil the surprises; everything on screen is important, even the background signs. And they already know how it ends (unlike Lost). The show's developer, Seth Rogen says "We're keeping track of every little mystery we introduce, so we can pay it off in some shape or form. It's never something weird happening for it's own sake."

It's not bad, especially given how good the comics where. Ass face could be more gross, and Tulip could be way less annoying. Hopefully it'll stay on track and things will pick up a little.

Having zero familiarity with the comic, this is my favorite new show.  It's just getting better, weirder and stranger and that makes it a blast.

Same with me Dolsey! The wife and I DVD each episode. With little ones Preacher is definitely a story to watch well after the little ones bedtime. I like how the angels are interacting with the story. Fun!

Even though the characters are the same, the story arch so far seems to have almost no relation to the original comic books. Which bothered me at first, but now not so much because I guess I don't really need to watch the same story.

Will keep watching to see where things go. Could be promising, though agree with Folsom re : arseface and tulip. The former was supposed to be a lot nastier physically and the latter a lot sweeter in the original material.

How far off from the comics? It's been awhile for me. As far as I can tell it's A LOT SLOWER because they keep showing daily life about everything. They still have the main characters, the henchmen, The All Saints Killer, and such... I hope they have a scene with TASK in hell. If not I'll be very disappointed.

Well, early in the very first comic Jesse, Tulip and Cassidy are already on the road fleeing the police and the Saint of Killlers and Jesse's church is completely blown away.....none of which has happened in he first episodes and doesn't appear to be happening anytime soon.....

Right, I was thinking they got on the road in a hurry. And I recalled everyone dieing in the Church when he got up and it was in rubble.

I'm sick of their small town, in ways. Again, its awfully slow ATM.

Saint of Killers, got it. ha.

I think I read it and Sandman and a few others in the same summer awhile ago.

So I think it's fair to call the season a flop?

I didn't read the comic so the characters and story are new to me, I'm enjoying the series and consider it a bloody success.
Based on the comments the current season appears to be a prequel to the graphic novel.

Prequel would be a fair description, but it includes a bunch of stuff that happened early in the comics.

I got too bored with this first season. While I don't recall everything in the comics, I surely don't recall this sluggish of a pace. They're trying to hard to milk it.
