A Few Questions On Loading New Music On Logitech Media Server

I am running LMS on a laptop attached to an external drive with 1.5 Tb of music.  All of the individual "artists" have their own folder and within that a folder for each album.  I have just burned another 50 CD's on a different computer using DB Poweramp so they are in their own folder as well.  Some "artists" are duplicated with a new album on the new rips and of course some are new to me.

I have to load these 50 folders individually (one at a time) on the external drive and place them in the appropriate folder if the "artist" is already on there?  Do I just drag the other folders in and they will be sorted correctly? Do I have to do a re-scan every time I add new music?

Sorry, it has been a few years since I have loaded anything as I have only been listening. I don't want to wind up with duplicates or anything out of order so.....

Cheers,
James

I just open the folder holding the to be added and select the destination folder.  They will all find the proper folder.  Just the same as moving any files.

If there are duplicates a window will pop up and ask which version you will like to keep.  It should also show the diffrence of size and date.

So you will have a Folder for the artist and all of his albums.

Yes, you will need to rescan after adding music.  There should be an option just to scan/find the new music you added rather than the entire library.

Sometimes when you re-scan a library or just new music, virus protection on the PC can interfere. Just keep that in mind if there is an issue

When you rip new CDs do so to a new rip folder.  When done move to the master play folder.
Albums can appear disjointed unless to  a complete rescan. :thumb:
