The ifi Gemini is an excellent usb cable with numerous great reviews. The
full separation of data and power eliminates the interference of noise from a computer's 5 volt line. This is a significant advancement in computer audio and one you will be able to hear readily.
While most dacs do require a 5 volt signal, a LOT of high quality dacs only need it for 3 seconds to create a "handshake" between the computer and the dac. SO? So, as with my two dacs, you plug in the usb power line, plug in the data line to your computer. Then, once the dac is recognized by the computer (either instantly or upon a re-boot),
you CAN REMOVE the power line entirely. Voila, no more 5 volt noise pollution. You can hear the improvement.
