For sale a Jadis DPL Line stage Preamp modified by RHB Sound Dezign. I am the third owner of this unit. This preamp includes RHB's dynamic linearity circuit, V-cap TFTF output capacitors, gold on silver wire, and their new patented twin regulated power supply with V-Cap capacitors. I rate the condition of this unit 7/10 due to age . There are no visible scratches on the face, top, or sides, however the bottom of the unit has a couple scratches that of course can't be seen unless flipped over. The stainless steel chassis has been professionally polished to a mirror finish by a metal finishing company, so there is no more gold flashing on it. There is also minor wear on one pair of RCA Jacks due to age.
Originally the output stage was controlled by the 2 halves of 1 12AX7 tube. After the mods, that job is now done by a pair of 12AU7's.
It also has Backert's proprietary $900 JB Gold line stage circuit mod, as well as some chassis damping.
Another change that was made at Bob Backert's suggestion was disabling the tube CD buffer stage for two reasons; First he felt that using one of the aux inputs would sound better, and secondly is that most modern dacs don't require this kind of circuit. If you feel you would still need the buffer stage, Bob says that it could easily be put back online for a small fee.
Also, the volume control has been upgraded to a new $250 non-stepped alps with a 10K value to have more control and finer adjustment.
Over $2000 has been spent on mods.
If you do a search about RHB you will find that their work and reputation is second to none. The results of their work is nothing short of amazing. Some of the most notable improvements include, a more detailed bass that has body and weight, increased sound stage width and height but most notably depth, and sound staging with images that just float in the air. All this while retaining the magic Jadis sound they're famous for. Included are the original manual and stock power cord . The tubes seen in the photos (ARE NOT INCLUDED). In their place are a matched pair of Jan Phillips 6189 tubes and 2 RCA clear top 12AU7. There is no original packing but it will be very carefully packed to insure a safe arrival.
For sake of complete disclosure, some tube rush can be heard with your ear up against the speaker, but I believe this is normal.
