Poor John.

No wonder Howard Stern always refers to her as "Yoko Oh No".

She sounds like a feral cat being raped by John Holmes.

My in-laws have another Karaoke set-up dowstairs
and I am surprised that for such small speakers it can ply loud enough
that you can hear it all over Asia.  :duh:

the sing along with your self CAFE.

A lot of folks don't understand singing along with a song is at once to hear the music you love and be part of a group at the same time, all so important in Asian culture, and helps find your feelings at the wits end of your awful day.

A very Asian friend of mine, owned this  lounge/cafe  and used to rent rooms so Asians could sit on a big couch, sings lyrics and really get down the earth, ground out, he sold no booze for this room rental.

Theres a place for this in the world i think

he said John Lennon music without lyrics was big.

SO WHAT. :duh:

he said when the place drove him crazy he would turn the treble down in all the rooms.
this reduced it to thumps instead of cats screaming.

This man was a Japanese fellow and this is his worlds not mine.

I am asked him what he did to chill out, he said drink a beer.

I said you serve beer?, he said no we sell sentimentality and tears.

I asked why the sofas where so big in each room, he said so the quest/customer can pass out after a real good sing.

no drinking, but there is passing out, it all beats me.

sounds cheaper too.

My wife wanted to have her own Keraoke set-up,
so she put one together, well, with the help of a friend,
an extra Karaoke system that was a spare nd gathering dust downstairs,
she used the 40 years old speakers she had.
The other day, she sang all evening and she did not notice,
but one speakers did not play.
So, like a good husband, I've checked the speakers and sure enough one was completely dead.
The 6'' woofer and the 3.5'' tweeter according to my V.O.M tester were open circuit.
Now, she, not me, will have to find a replacement, well,
she will ask her friend that know's where to go to buy old stuff like that.
The speakers were rated at 20watts and the amplifier is 100+ watts,
even if she did not put it to maximum, I am sure it was set at 50 watts... :duh:
No... She's not allowed to use my GR Research N3 speakers,
if she touch those, I will divorce her, that's my stuff.
NO TOUCH.  :nono:

I understand the Asian karaoke mentality,
that's why I let them sing until the have no voice anymore.
I just avoid being in the same room when they sing.  :thumb:

Sing away and put yourself on YouTube and we'll rate it :green:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HdZ9weP5i68

And that children is why we should never, ever, mix lots and lots of LSD with lots and lots of money.

That sounds like the soundtrack for a stool softener commercial.

Loco Yono ... she says she both a witch AND an artist, ya know.

Hi all,
in a previous post of mine,
I mentioned that never, never my wife would touch my GR Research N3 speakers,
well, she did, when I was not home.
What happened is:
She was using the vintage speakers for her karaoke
and what could happen, did happen.
Toooooooo looooooud. Maybe 100wpc on those poor little speakers. (6'' dia.)
Soooo while I was not there, she ask her nephew to switch the speaker cables
from vintage to my super duper GR Research hi-end hi-fidelity speakers.
No need to say that I was not happy and I let her know that.
'' You know wife, those are special speakers, if you blow a driver it will cost me a
fortune to replace it, plus all the trouble to get it down on planet Vietnam. ''
I think she got my point, the next day, the nephew brought from downstairs in laws
some old PA ugly looking and bad sounding speakers and guess what ?
Yes, one of those two speakers especially design for ultra loud karaoke
was not working, probably something inside has melted...
Anyway, now I am powerless toward this new situation and she's using
my N3 hopefully they will survive to the torture...  :(

A few pictures of her karaoke and TV set up.
The black Pioneer receiver is for the TV and the Ariang multi mixer, echo
and everything but the kitchen sink
is for her karaoke screeming...

This is not the first step for her use your GR speakers?
JLM is correct the amp signal was strongly clipped and
burn the PA driver.

I afraid your rare unavaliable hi-end Omega FR driver.

I'd worry more about a heavily overdriving the amp (producing a distorted signal) than putting too many watts into your speakers.

Does she really need two speakers anyway?  From what I've seen there are many portable karaoke setups that only use a single channel.

One good side to this: your GR speakers are probably less efficient than PA speakers so she won't be as loud.  A man of your statue should be able to come up with a suitable setup for her karaoke.  (That setup could be keeping an ample supply of adult beverages.   )
