Hello,
I am running a Mac mini with a music streamer II+ Dac. Going to start using Roon. I have had the music streamer for some time. Are there better alternatives out there? I'm not going to stop using the Mac as a source. That's why I said within reason for the title of this post.

As long as I can support a usb Dac? Right now the Mac connects to the streamer via usb and then out to my onkyo ht-rc180 via rca cables. How does this device differ? Can I use it?

Would the difference in sound between this and the music streamer be significant?

The microRendu is not a DAC. Notice in the picture towards the bottom of the linked page the microRendu has a Dragonfly DAC plugged into it.

If your objective is to get a better DAC this would not do it.
