Up for sale is the bottom portion of the wedgies.  The bass section features 3 (8)inch drivers in an open baffle configuration.  The drivers are powered by two Rythmik amps.  I am keeping the top part.  I first heard these at a fellow members house and it was the best bass I have ever heard.  I had to have them.  and then I saw that people were making the bottoms with 12's and I had to move up.  I don't need the bottom portion anymore.  You can contact the builder about getting the top part made.  I will never go back to box speakers again.  I don't even look at them anymore.  If you want the best sound there is, look no further.  I wish I could go back in time and get back all the money I spent on other speakers.  These are that good.  Most people would probably be very content with the amount of bass these put out.  They look great and are a snow white.  You could easily paint them a different color if you wanted.  These are about as close to a perfect speaker as you can get.  Shipping would be tricky.  I am at zip code 72703.  The drivers and amps would cost you about $1500 alone.  Make me an offer.  It really wouldn't be that hard for you to have one of the best speakers money can buy at a reduced price and a relatively short time frame to own them.  This offer may not come up again.

At this point, I just want to see what people will offer.

Who made the top portion for you and what was the price for that?

Joemamma

mlundy57 built the top portion.  Ron worked his magic and built the crossovers.  I don't remember what I was charged.  It was a while ago.  I believe the kit for the top portion was $799

Are the plate amps built in to the enclosure?  Do the plate amps accept single ended and/or balanced inputs?

Intrigued, for sure....Do you have the dimensions, as well?

I live in SF, CA (94110) so offering a price might not even be worthwhile...thoughts on shipping?

cheers,
scott

The base at its widest is only 10 inches.  They are about 30 inches high.  Im sure I could take them to fed ex and have them packaged, I have no idea what this would cost. I will post a pic of the amp.  They are not part of the enclosure

Hello,

A couple of questions.  How wide are they at the front?, Which amp did you use, and is this a servo setup?

Steven

Joemamma

The front measures 5.5 inches.  The drivers are servo controlled by the two rythmik plate amps.  I am driving the top parts with an onkyo receiver as a pre and and ATI amp.  Big time overkill and probably not the best....They are about as a perfect speaker as you can get.  Small footprint, high sensitivity, open airy sound, and the best bass in the world.

Best speakers offered by Gr Research Wedgies $1800-Price Drop
« Reply #10 on: 7 Jun 2016, 04:42 pm »
Price dropped $200.  Until recently, Danny said these were the best speakers he has ever offered as a kit.  With just a little work and a greatly discounted price, you can own one of the best sounding speakers there is.  IF you can pull them out a few feet in your room you will be rewarded with the most transparent sound and best bass there is.  How do I know this?, because I have spent thousands of dollars buying boxed speakers with the promise they would get me closer to audio nirvana.  I wish I had discovered GR research thousands of dollars ago.  The word needs to spread about OB bass and the sound these small open baffle monitors produce. If you don't have the wedgie tops, contact Mlundy about building you out a pair.  He is amazing and is so easy to work with.  His work is top notch and his customer service is fantastic.

I heard these speakers a couple months ago at the Lone Star Audio fest and thought they sounded very good. Detailed, open, and the bass units had a seamless integration. Good luck with the sale.

These are back on the market.  I sent the amps to Brian and they were configured for ob 8's.  They were initially sent to me ready for 12's.  They play louder and have more headroom.  The bass is amazing.  Nothing on the market comes close.  Get a pair of wedgies for the top and you will probably have the best speaker money can buy.  You will never look at box speakers again.  I have dropped the price again.  $1500.  Takes them.  This is about the price just for the drivers and amps.
