Thread size of spikes on Kismet Beryllium Speakers?
« on: 29 May 2016, 05:30 pm »
Hi,

I am hoping to install Herbie's threaded gliders (http://herbiesaudiolab.net/spkrfeet.htm), on Kismet Ref BE speakers and wanted to confirm the thread size of the post on the spikes for the Kisme BE.

Here are some potential size options FYI:
Threads available:
8-32 (1/2" or 3/4" long)
10-32 (1/2" or 3/4" long)
1/4"-20 (1/2", 3/4", 1", 1.5" or 2" long)
5/16"-18 (1/2", 3/4", 1", or 2" long)
3/8"-16 (1", 1.5" or 2" long)
5/8"-11 (female for Salamander)

M5 (16mm long)
M6 (16mm, 20mm, or 25mm long)
M8 (15mm, 20mm, or 40mm long)
M10 (25mm long)
Metric thread pitch:
M5=0.8, M6=1, M8=1.25, M10=1.5

Thanks for any help!

Easiest way....

Take one of your spikes to local Home Depot or Lowes and find a nut that fits.
This will give the important stuff -- diameter and thread pitch.  Get whatever length you want.

Understood,

Don't have the speakers yet, trying to order the proper spike replacements because I have wood floors and this will make placement tweaking easier from the jump, and avoid me killing the wife's floors.

I suspect Klaus or one of the people who have already made such a replacement will know off hand.

To answer my own question, there are no holes for spikes,
I went with Giant fat Gliders and some regular gliders to test for tilt.

No threads at all...you can do that yourself if you want with some insets,  but I usually don't like it that much...
