Newbie Alert
« on: 24 May 2016, 07:05 pm »
Hi,
great info been perusing for a week now and because of this site I’m looking to buy/build my first XLS Encore speaker kit. was looking for something under $300 that can fill a good sized room 25’ X 35’ with hi fi sound, mostly classical, jazz, lots of vocals, and some light rock. Also we present Musical Therapy/Appreciation events so speakers must be compact enough for carry/transport.

Does this describe the XLS Encores pretty well? Plan to buy the upgrades as well.

How does the A/V 1 compare to Encores?

Thanks much

Hello, Jammer.

There are two or three guys here who may be able to make the speakers for you. However, I do not know if they can or will make flat packs for you. My kit speakers (not XLS-Encores) were built by a man named John. His alias on AC is 'pecker'. He did excellent work for very reasonable charge. Next up is Ron, who just happens to be called 'Ron' on AC. He has a long history of building speakers for folks here.

Best of luck,

Michael

What sort of amplifier will you use to power your speakers?

How many watts/channel?

For amps Im liking the onkyo 8020 receiver and the onkyo 9010 first is 40 watts per other is 44 watts per . seem a good match for the xls?
