For Sale is a set amp designed and hand built by Larry Moore; the Ultra Fi Sebring Stereo 300B. My only amp for the 1st 4+ years but only used 1 or 2 months/year for the past 5 years because I moved to less efficient speakers. 9 years old, it is in near mint condition.
Linear in nature it allows a wide soundstage that is remarkably balanced, offering detailed transparency and natural tone while at the same time is dynamic and somewhat robust (meat on the bones note density). From a deep bass thru the harmonic mids to the detailed and airy highs. Tone, timbre, attack & decay is spot on with a very good sense of dynamics. For me it is excellent with all types of music not just acoustical & jazz (where it really excels). Very nicely different to what I expected from a 300B amp.I have owned several amps over the years (some twice as expensive) and this has remained my favorite. I had excellent results with speakers from Tekton, Zu, & Coincident.
Larry used James Audio transformers and Mundorf M-Cap Supreme Silver/Oil capacitors and short point to point wiring. The only aspect that is less then perfect is that there is a very slight wiggle to the 300b in their sockets, but this has never caused me any type of problem or concern.
Comes with the excellent Sophia Electric Princess 300B (<300 hours) and 50's vintage NOS RCA 6SN7. Also included is a late 50's vintage pair of NOS GE 6SN7GTB (which I preferred to the rca). It does auto bias and is a very robust 8 watts/channel. I will also include a pair of EML 300B-XLS. Although this pair has 2000 hrs+, they still sound excellent but no telling how many hours remain. Also this pair allows approximately 13w/channel.
Larry is a somewhat unknown but highly reguarded amp designer/builder. I found some praised reviews of his 845 amp & 10Y squared amp.I don't know if Larry is still building amps.
