My "Home-away-from-home"-Theater
« on: 12 May 2016, 10:29 pm »
Greetings from beautiful NE Oregon! I've been looking for a good audiophile chat-room to share my ignorance with. Hope you don't mind... I'm Mike, 64 yrs old, and live with my wife of 39 yrs. on our ranch in rural NE Oregon. I was born to ranching, and Janie and I own our own smaller (by local values) ranch 15 miles E. of Baker City. I've always been into music, and have managed to accumulate a fair cluster of vintage stereo gear. (Sansui, Sony, Dual, Dynaco, JBL,....) I'm NOT a hoarder, though you might get the wrong idea by looking... I had been talking to my wife about converting our living room into a home theater, but she didn't want me carving up the house, so for the past 3 yrs, I've put my OCD to work on a project in our yard. Using 3 existing small buildings (8x12,10x12, and 12x16), I've put together what I refer to as "The Nereinaj Theater". (The local theater, The Eltrym, was named after the builder's wife Myrtle.) My wife's name is Janie Ren. Seemed to make sense. I also thought it wouldn't hurt to name it after her... dunno if it helped or not... I'm hoping that you folks MIGHT humor me, and help with some of the weird stuff. Gotta have decent sound in a theater.... Thanks for accepting me into your group!

  • To whom more was given more will be required.
    • Never go to a psychiatrist, adopt a straycat or dog. On the street they live only two years average.

Hi, Mike. Welcome to AC.

A few of us are fellow Oregonians. I'm usually found in Corvallis, Aldcoll is in Harrisburg, HappyRabbit is in Bend, a half dozen or so are in the greater Portland/Vancouver area, Ern Dog is near Ashland, and Mudslide is in Lincoln City.

I'm actually wandering around in AZ/NM right now.
