Hooking up a laptop to a plasma TV
« on: 4 Nov 2004, 02:55 am »
I've got a laptop (Toshiba A75) that I'd like to hook up to my Panasonic plasma TV.  The laptop has a regular 15-pin monitor output, and the TV has that as an input.  However, the laptop output is assuming that the TV is a regular 4:3 aspect ratio, and it won't display on the full 16:9 without stretching the output.

Is there a way to configure the laptop so it takes advantage of the widescreen?

You should be able to go into the properties of your video adapter and change the resolution to match that of your TV.

To get to Video Properties:

Right Click on Desktop -> Properties -> Settings Tab

From there you should be able to choose your display resolution.  You may see a drop down where you can choose between display 1, and display 2.  I believe that if select display 2 in the drop down and configure that to the resolution you want, it should display automatically when you connect the TV.

Dave,

Thanks, looks like that did the trick!
