Vandersteen VCC-5 Center Channel Speaker-SOLD
« on: 8 May 2016, 02:05 am »
The top of the line Vandersteen Center Channel speaker, the VCC-5.  New are $2,195. Sell this for $1,000.  Paypal +3%.  Shipping extra at actual cost.

The finish is gloss walnut / mahogany. Great condition overall. The front black grill cloth does have two very small holes in it. I tried to capture in the front photo close up. Next to impossible to notice once a few feet away. You could always replace the grill cloth if it bothers you.  I do not have the original box, but it is packed in a heavy duty subwoofer box for safe shipping.

From the Vandersteen website.
The VCC- 5 is a three-way design based on the VCC- 1, but with the addition of two (2) 6.5-inch cast-basket woofers. These woofers are internally mounted and cross over at 150Hz to the coaxial system, which has a crossover frequency of 3500Hz. A true “triaxial” output is achieved by channeling bass around the midrange-tweeter coaxial array. This eliminates the severe comb filter lobing produced by horizontally displaced drivers. The result is reference-level performance, both in measurement and sound, regardless of off-axis perspective above, below or to the right or left of the speaker. While not an easy design goal to meet, we feel this property is mandatory for a proper center speaker and it is found in all of our VCC’s. The VCC- 5 Reference preserves the coherence of the VCC-1 Signature and VCC-2 while broadening frequency extension, lowering distortion and increasing power handling.

Thanks for looking.

Where does it ship from?

What is a ballpark estimate of shipping cost to a business address in 98424?

Thanks,
Jeff

Hi Jeff -

I'm in Portland, so I imagine maybe $75?  I just weighed it and it is 80 pounds, boxed and ready to ship.  Depending on how soon you want it, I may be able to drive and meet you mid-way on I-5 as well.  We have some good friends in Edgewood and visit them every other month or so.  Send me a pm with what you have in mind.

Thanks
Kenreau

Hi Kenreau,

I'm in no rush at all.  In fact I don't really need the VCC-5 but will be nice to replace the VCC-1 in our downstairs family room.  I had a VCC-5 about 7 years ago, they are nice.  Back then our upstairs room was 50% or more HT, but now that is 0% and it is my dedicated 2 channel music room.  So when you come up here next time is fine with me.
