All these talk about Pink Floyd, I honestly don't get it where all the similarities and expectations are coming from. Radiohead sound nothing like Pink Floyd (then again as a whole they don't sound like any other artists). They never did. In fact, apart from Jonny Greenwood, no one in Radiohead even likes Pink Floyd. In fact, they do not like progressive rock to begin with. Radiohead stopped being a rock band while ago. They are more like an experimental art 'rock' band. It kinda blows my mind, given how their music is not 'accessible' (esp if you compare to most artists from classic rock era let alone the contemporary music) and still manage to sell 30 million albums. https://www.reddit.com/r/radiohead/comments/3h4tn6/nailing_down_radioheads_major_influences_by_album/cu4i4emIn terms of musician influences, it is as diverse from The Beatles, Miles Davis, Neil Young, Talking Heads, Brian Eno, Joy Division, The Pixies, R.E.M to Can, Aphex Twin, Bjork, Mingus, Neu!, Fela Kuti, Penderecki, Messiaen and many many more. The latest album has a lot of classical music influence. And Radiohead has also inspired contemporary classical artists like Steve Reich.http://www.classicfm.com/music-news/interviews/steve-reichs-radiohead-inspiration/#iQiu077lzOI5SOv8.97http://www.theguardian.com/music/2014/sep/11/steve-reich-radiohead-interview-phillip-glasshttp://www.nysun.com/arts/bach-mozart-radiohead/12794/According to some music guru, many years from now, Radiohead music theory would be studied in school. In fact, I know there has been few PHD awarded where the main dissertation was on Radiohead works. I will give two example:Phd on music theory - University of Michigan: https://deepblue.lib.umich.edu/bitstream/handle/2027.42/86444/neadam_1.pdfOn philosophy of Radiohead - University of Texas, Austin: https://www.lib.utexas.edu/etd/d/2005/lettsm76116/lettsm76116.pdfAnd just for the kicks, one interesting music theory article on Pyramid Song: http://www.mtosmt.org/issues/mto.13.19.1/mto.13.19.1.hesselink.html
While I love Pink Floyd to death, its an insult saying them 'Just like Pink Floyd', and I honestly don't believe anyone who has been following Radiohead till now and aware how their music style has progressed, they sound NOTHING like Pink Floyd. Pink Floyd has been an influence in their early albums for sure among many other artists. Perhaps, it was the wrong idea to listen to them expecting to sound like Pink Floyd. They are not in anyway "Psychedelic" in the sense that Pink Floyd is. Tame Impala (except their latest album) or Flaming Lips is some example artist if you want to listen to some Pink Floyd alike modern good music. You may only find it ok but "Ok Computer" is heralded as one of the best album in modern music, so is "Kid A".
