In short it's one of my favorite Go To pre-amp/DAC combo units. The feature list is impressive and it has performed very well with all sorts of Gear that I've paired it with. It's still a current production model from Parasound. It packs quite a bit of USABLE functionality in one neat package. Excellent DAC, Bass management functions are solid, Phono Stage with MM/MC support ( and it's actually quite good), front panel aux has 12db gain ( for your phone or tablet this is perfect) . HT Pass through, Balanced Input /Output blah blah blah etc etc...

My second P5 is paired with a Threshold S/300, Sony CDP XA-7es, MacMini running Audirivana, Apple TV, and Luxman T02 Tuner It's handling Bass management for a set of Celestion SL6 and Snell PS10 Sub ( filtered at 80hz) - sounds damn good.
