Recommendations for Audiophile Server
« on: 26 Apr 2016, 03:44 pm »
looking for a top notch Audiophile Server with only about 1TB of HD space and USB output to my Modwright Eyse DAC.

Tablet control would be cool but not necessary.

Any suggestions of where to being my search?

thank you

Price range?  Check out the Salk Stream for midlevel.  Lampizator Komputer for over the top.

Are you handy enough to build your own?  If not, I would look at the aurender line.

I purchased an Aurender N-100H from Essential Audio, the owner, Brain is very knowledgeable about the Aurender line...he mostly post in the Aurender thread over on CA. That thread is a long one but hits most of the bases. Since I'm still waiting for my DAC to ship, I have not been able to use the server yet.

Also make sure the USB port on the MW Elyse is USB 2.0 audio complainant....if not then you will need a converter.

I used an Elyse with an Aurender N100H so you are set there.  Excellent combination.

Definitely better than a Mac mini.

These are pretty plug and play, so your local / closest dealer would be best (unless they are douches). Where are you located?

Look at the HAL MS-3 if you want a PC-based server.  I use one for my library and an Aurender S10 as my player.  Rich Hollis is a member here and a great guy.

Other than store music what does the HAL do that the Aurender doesn't?  The Aurender is a server and player.

Well it can also run room and speaker correction and any other Windows based software for audio.

Stripped down Windows 10 64bit OS for use.  It also allows you to rip your CD collection to your library with the internal DVD drive.
