Was wondering if any of you know to what effect heat plays in a DVD player?
2 weeks ago I acquired a new DVDP (Pioneer Elite DV-38A), and the only real place I could put it was on top my my receiver.
It's a bit toasty on top of my receiver, so I ordered Herbie's Audio Lab Tenderfooters to place under the DVDP so as to get a little more space between the DVDP & receiver.
That helped out a decent amount as there's now twice the space between the two.
But the bottom of the DVDP still gets a bit toasty. There's no vent holes at all on the DVDP. Which is probably one of the reasons it's so quiet. But no vent holes means no way for heat to leave the case. The bottom of the case is fairly thick though. There's 2 layer of very heavy gauge sheet metal screwed onto the bottom of the case. So there's 3 layers of steel the heat has to get through before it hits the internals.
My question is then this.
Do you think that the 3 layered chassis & additional space underneath it is enough heat prevention?
Or should I cover the bottom of the chassis with a layer of heat shield such as Dynamat Extreme?
