My loreleis have arrived!
« on: 1 Nov 2004, 09:23 pm »
After much anticipation (preceded by a LOT of research), my loreleis have arrived today.  Luckily, DHL did not mess them up... on that note, I have to say thanks to Jeff (Captain Humble).  Everything written about him is true-he's an honest guy who is great to talk to.  I hope to meet him someday.  He did an excellent job packing them...
now onto the speakers,
they're gorgeous!  The finish is stunning!  these are the first pair of speakers i've owned that make me think about how beautiful they are rather than thinking about how good they sound... congrats Klaus-these are real furniture-grade cabinets.
I've been playing them for about 30 minutes now and they sound amazing... brian was right-I just can't believe how much bass these scanspeak drivers put out.  Even with my interim amp, they sound great.. I can't wait untill I get my xtreme monos  :o .
step 1 is done.. now i have to patiently wait for my modwright preamp and xtreme monos  :x
Alright.. i'm done.  thanks for reading my positive rant.

You've seen pics of the crossovers right?  I think that's got something to do with it  :o   talk about overbuilt.

Congrats!  Just wait until those Xtreme's get hold of that driver!  You're gonna love it.  I've seen your speakers and the dark cherry is great looking - very well done.

Enjoy your new toys

byteme,  what speakers are in your Gallary?

The one in the first picture,  with a candle holder (and candle) on top,  (speaker) sitting right next to your component rack?

I was wondering what they are (manufactor, model number).

:D Glad you love them Vasu, you're not alone. You got a real fair price for a well broke in pair of 1 year old Lorelei's. It take a good 3 months to fully break in a raw pair so you're actually lucky to have the sound right straight outta the box. But I gotta ask, do the Lorelei's rock or what? :o Regards, Robin

Thanks Vasu, the checks in the mail.

I was extremely confident that you would like the Loreleis.  Just as I said, fully broken in and playing to their full potential right out of the box.

I was very concerned about shipping after I saw what UPS managed to do to byteme's first delivery of Loreleis.  I couldn't get those pictures out of my mind until I got your call this afternoon advising me that they had arrived unscathed.

So... it's a happy day for both of us.

Vasu, it was a pleasure working with you and I wouldn't hesitate to do business with you again.

I'm sure that Klaus, byteme, satfrat and I will make ourselves available to answer any other questions you might have regarding placement etc.

Enjoy.  8)

Congratulations Vasu!
You sure got you some nice speakers
The only thing that stopped me from bringing home that pair at RMAF was the thought of my Mom hollaring from the roof of the car for 900 miles while the speakers stayed dry inside....

Enjoy!

do yourself a favor and don't listen the usher 6 series speakers or you'll be in the same boat that capt. was in.

marvda1,
i'm not sure why you are always pushing the usher speakers in all of your posts.  do you have some type of vested interest in them?  i've heard usher speakers and i've heard the epihonies and now loreleis.  I firmly believe that they each offer a different sound... and the odysseys are tailored more towards me... let's just leave it at that.

deadfish.
   :rotflmao:

Jeff,
thanks for the kind remarks.  I'll be sure to ask you, brian, and robin if I have any questions.

Hi,

The demo loreleis also arrived in the singapore showroom last week. To be really honest, the sound is incredible!! F**king unbelievable at this price point! Apologies for the language...but it's that explicitly good!

To be honest, I do feel that, in terms of value or price-performance ratio, it's even higher than the Stratos amps. And it looks great too! We can heard layers and layers of details. And not too analytical or dry... which makes it very musical.

The scanspeak drivers and tweeters are really a class of its own. No wonder they are used for speakers that cost twice the price of the Loreleis.

It's really a contender for the most value for the buck speaker at this price point! Period!

I think Capt. reasons for the swap were well documented.  Are the Ushers nice speakers?  Sure.  Are the better than the Lors?  Apparently for you.  And for Capt.  But have you ever actually HEARD the Lors?  Hmmm....

Anyway, not very sporting of you to come in here and piss all over Vasu's "positive rant", in fact it's down right shitty.   :nono:

Those are Polk RTA 11t's that I modified to 11tl's.  I bought them new in 1987 or so, upgraded the crossovers ( details here - http://webpages.charter.net/btreinen/speaker_tweak.htm ) and tweeters.

Here's a couple other pics -

http://webpages.charter.net/btreinen/our_home_theater.htm

I've still got them, tried to sell them for a while, but they're pretty big and I didn't want to ship them.  My wife now uses them for Karaoke.

They were very very good, but when it comes down to it not a match for the Lorelei's.  As has been said, I think the Lors are a better bang for the buck value than the Stratos amps.  Vasu will be VERY happy for quite some time!  Enjoy the tunes!

Not only is it called Thread Crapping for a reason, but it is also against the rules here as outlined in the FAQ section.

"What about in Manufacturer Circles?
There, you should recognize that that circle is, to some degree, an extension of the manufacturer's place of business, and show some consideration accordingly. Avoid promoting a competing product in a manufacturer circle, and don't place for-sale ads there either (put those in the Trading Post)."

When do the other pieces of your system arrive?  I know you have been working on this for quite some time.

The Extreme Monos will take some time to burn in, 3 weeks before they start to sound good, longer to really settle in.  Hopefully you will have your new preamp so they can break in together.

What source are you using?

Getting new gear is soooo much fun!  Enjoy!

thanks andy... now why don't you sell me your erleuchtung???  :P
source is an empirical audio modified rme 9632 pro studio soundcard..   When I got into this crazy hobby, I wanted my source to be my computer and I had this mod done about 2 months before steve started doing the whole usb to external dac thing.. oh well.  I hope to receive the modwright preamp and the extreme monos before the 19th.. or else i'll be on vacation and won't hear them until dec. 1st.  :x

Byteme,

Not to intercede in this thread - but I just have to compliment you on your fine job on the Polk's.  I'm sure they sound beautiful.
