I'm selling these Amberwood Thiel CS2 2 speakers, a true classic speaker that easily holds its own sonically against todays offerings 3x or more my price, built and finished to the legendary Thiel standard which is $$$$ today.
I fell in love with them when I saw and heard them and thought I might use them in a bedroom, but at 42x12x13 they are just too large for the wife to go along.
They were Stereophile Class B for years, and are probably the smoothest, easiest sounding of the Thiels. I owned Thiel 3.6s and PCS, and I think overall the 2 2 is the most coherent and musical, with deep, powerful bass, truly wonderful imaging, and balanced, clean and natural highs. They are real pleasure to listen to on any type of music.
This pair is one of the nicest pairs in existence. No scratches, one small chip on a rear corner (see pic), perfect drivers. Grill cloth is very clean, without holes, stains or pulls. The rear of the speakers are slightly faded compared to the other surfaces, but are uniform in color. The gloss is uniform. They look nearly as new. See pics.
The original owner who sold them to me was a retired non-smoking airline pilot who babied them.
One flaw: top corner, rear panel. Not visible from top or side.
The speakers are a true 4 ohm load, and can be driven well by most high current amps 50 watts and above or less in a smaller room.
I seriously doubt there is a better floorstander on the market for this price.
I have the original double boxes, plywood caps and inserts, spikes and owners' literature. I will pack them well and ship at buyer's expense, estimated at $150-200 to cont. US, or can do a pickup in downtown Seattle.
