you are using say Panasonic SA-XR45 via its digital in?
The specs say 100W @6 ohms but can it drive say 4 ohms (dipping 3.0 ohms) speakers?  One other question is using the receiver and a CDP with a step-up transformer (110V to 220V) in a country that uses 50Hz, any disadvantage(s)?  I don't think there is any equipment will convert the hertz.  Can someone explain in a plain language as I am very new to digital amps?

I believe that PS Audio makes a conditioner that you could use in conjunction with your voltage transformer. It allows you to alter the frequency , I've never played with one but I have some friends who use them . You could check out their website to find your nearest dealer and call them for advice. :)

The CDP has nothing to do with the receiver power output.  The digital out from the CDP to the XR45 will work fine.

Most equipment will run on 50 or 60 Hz.  It should work with a step-up transformer.  You can look at the specs on the receiver and player to determine this.

Thanks.

Actually I think PS Audio P300 can also be uses as a voltage transformer.  I will check on that.

That was actually my question; if using the digital in, it does not really matter what kind of a CDP you are using as long as the CDP has digital out, correct?

I talked to PS Audio.  They said that the P300 will convert the voltage and I can also set the Hz from the front of the unit, I did not know that.  So, I am hoping I will be fine.  I am not sure the power consumption of the SA-XR45/70 but I know that the P300 will not handle over 300W.  Any input on that?  Thanks!

Sorry for all the questions :)

If I want to bi-amp my speakers (two SA-XR45) and connect my CD/DVD player via digital in, how can I connect two SA-XRs to the CDP?  Would using  Y-adapter affect the sound?

I think I recall people biamping with two of the Panny, by connecting the cd to the first Panny, then the second Panny to the first via the digital output of the Panny.

Then you set the volume of each unit with the other one off, then power them both up, and the respond to the same remote at the same time, cycling up and down.

Not sure, just recalling what I read.
